Day 127

Erm, I admit I'm not "posing" my eyes well since it looks really lopsided and 1 eyelid is higher than the other but I did this deliberately to show that my eyelids eventually DID turn out to be parallel BUT it is hardly obvious.

This is true to what Dr Tay observed during my last review - that my eyelids are not actually touching the corner. Just barely touching only.

It is also hardly noticeable in photos but this is the best I could do to "prove" that my eyelids did not become tapered.

Also, this is what my eyelids look like now. I will probably post one a proper one that is not so lop-sided next.

Finally, now that my eyelids are at their most natural state that I'm getting compliments on them. Hehe. I love them and am very glad I had them done!

I am still not putting eye make-up because I still haven't mastered drawing eyeliner on double eyelids AND it makes my eyes look weirdly huge (like wow).

I strongly recommend taking photos consistently because I am still in awe that months back I was actually telling myself that my eyelids were not that swollen when actually compared to now, they were freakishly swollen yet I thought they were normal??? Lol!

Really, take photos to keep track of your progress. It's so funny to look back at them and go like omg, how did I go out in public like that...

  1. Hi, I just had my first consultation with AT on Wednesday 5th and paid the deposit for surgery for early September. Did you consider epicanthoplasty and ptosis repair to open up your eyed more prior to your double eyelid surgery?

    1. Not really, no. I never really seriously considered either of the above.

    1. The last time the doc measured for me was 8mm, exactly.

  5. Thank you for the very detailed update of your progress. It helps answer a lot of the questions that I have & put my mind at ease that they will look more natural with time. I had mine done on 14th of August. My initial crease height is 7mm & I opted for the tapered crease. Mine is the incision method too. I'm blessed that there is no bruising or pain. I just need to ice them religiously & do the 'press-down-forehead-look-up' exercise :)
I must say that I'm very happy with what I see so far even woth the swelling. I'm looking forward to the reduction of the crease height for a more natural look as I have upper eyeliner tattoo which is very obvious now that my upper eyelids have opened up :(

    1. Yes, I definitely know the feeling of anxiety during the healing process. I had friends telling me that swelling would typically reduce after 2 months yet I still had the sausage lids and was freaking out! Now, looking back at all my pictures, I find it so funny that I thought I looked "normal" when I was actually still so swollen. Haha! I'm glad this helps to put some of you at ease.

I definitely get what you mean about the eyelashes/eyelid part being more prominent!

Nothing to do now but wait... and maintain a clean and healthy diet so you can heal beautifully!

  6. Hi! Thank you for your detailed post on your eyelid progress! I just got mine done Sep 11, one month ago and currently the crease is at 8mm too. It looks like the swelling is gone but after reading how you thought the same thing, I am going to continue to patient and hope it heals more.

Right now, it looks like my crease is deep and prominent, because the lid is hooding over. Not the look I was going for as it looks like mini sausage lines. I also cannot tell if it is tapered or parallel lines because this is a revision surgery and my dr made a line higher than my old one...so you can see two lines in the inner corners. I am in the phase of "why oh why did I get this surgery?"...But all I can do now is pray that the scars disappear and my crease gets smaller and thins out. I'm lucky to have came upon your blog, thank you for your inspirational photos! =)

    1. Reading your comment brings back such "fond" memories, haha!

I can absolutely relate to what you are going through. Every day you wake up and think "hey I look alright... the swelling has gone down". And then you see the old photo 3 months later and think to yourself "what was I thinking? I went out in public like this?!"

I also went into the panic mode of wondering if the sausage-ness would EVER go away. But hey, here I am post-swelling and glad to say it will go away!

If you did the incision method, 1 month is definitely way too early to see any actual results.

And yes, I remember feeling that "I don't even look that much prettier, why did I do this to myself?". But again, here I am now, really really happy I got the surgery done. I absolutely love how I look in photos now too. (I used to be the 'pretty-only-with-makeup' girl)

Take extra care of your diet and your eyelids. Continue to consume lots of healthy, healing foods, especially Vit C. I hope your scars continue to fade and that you will heal beautifully! :) And take photos regularly too! Even if it's not to be posted, it really helps keeping a photo diary.
